Dialogue in Pale Blue

Dialogue in Pale Blue

Cleveland: Broken Mimeo Press, 1969. First edition. First edition of 200 unique copies assembled by hand. Oblong 4to consisting of cut and folded pieces of blue paper in various sizes pasted onto pages in stiff wrappers, with title and author’s names rubber stamped on cover and title page. Unpaginated.

Sparse in its execution, this is one of the more conceptual artists’ books to come out of the Cleveland Mimeograph Revolution. The result of a broken mimeograph, R. J. S. and T. L. Kryss took the paper they were left with and handmade two hundred books consisting entirely of folded pieces of blue paper pasted onto the pages. This is a clear articulation of the joy, desire, and need to create a book regardless of available means.

A very good example of this scarce and improvisational artists’ book with light sunning and foxing to margins of the wrappers, a crease mark on the top left corner, two small closed tears, one along the right side of the front cover, and the other along the bottom of the back cover. Item #1
