Ingatestone, Essex: Source, 1972. Saddle stapled softcover 4to in white wrappers printed in red and black on glossy stock, with pages printed in black on newsprint. Unpaginated [64 pp.]

Program issued on the occasion of this 1972 international festival billed as the ‘Woodstock of the aesthetic vanguard’ intended to gather every aspect of the avant-garde in one place, including audio, visual, environmental, video, computer, electronic, performance, theatre, music, and dance. The festival itself was conceived by Harvey Matusow and held at the Roundhouse in Camden Town August 13–28, 1972. This accompanying program was compiled and edited by ‘Source: Music of the Avant Garde’ editors Stanley Lunetta and Arthur Woodbury. In total, over three-hundred artists and groups took part across the two-week event. Participating artists included Lars-Gunnar Bodin, John Cage, Cornelius Cardew, Henri Chopin, François Dufrene, Clare Duncan, Felipe Ehrenberg, Sten Hanson, Bernard Heidsieck, Geoff Hendricks, Dick Higgins, Åke Hodell, Shoko Komaki, Anna Lockwood, Franz Mon, Charlotte Moorman, Jackson Mac Low, Dave Mayor, Ladislav Novak, Frederick Page, Nam June Paik, Carolee Schneemann, John Tilbury, Yukio Tsuchiya, David Tudor, Paul de Vree, and Roger Woodward, among several others. Participating groups included Acme Dance Company, AMM, Ascension, Audio Visual Studio/Ensemble, Biome, Computer Arts Society, Ensemble MW2, Experimental Intermedia Foundation, Fylkingen, Gentle Fire, Group Germ, Intermodulation, London Philharmonic Choir, MEV 2, Naked Software, The Open Loop, Portsmouth Sinfonia, Sonic Arts Union, Spontaneous Music Ensemble, Steim—Amsterdam Electric Circus, The Taj Mahal Travellers, and Teletopa, among several others. A comprehensive documentation of this legendary and chaotic event illustrated throughout with photographs, graphics, and a few full-page trade advertisements.

Handling creases to covers, including faint diagonal fold lines at corners, and age toning to pages on account of the newsprint. Very good. Item 1158.
