Ústí nad Labem: Kulturni správa ONV, Dúm kultury pracujicich, 1967. Saddle-stapled horizontal 8vo in pictorial wrappers printed in black throughout on high-acidity newsprint. 22 pp. Text in Czech. Signed in green marker by the artists at second page.
Monthly Czech cultural program from April 1967, showcasing a selection of poetry, concrete poetry, and literary and movie reviews. With a few notable contributions by Jirí Valoch, including two concrete poems and a three-page essay titled ‘nová poezie,’ written in his early twenties. The essay provides Valoch’s philosophical perspective on the evolution of language and visual and concrete poetry, with references to Piet Mondrian, Eugen Gomringer, Ugo Carrega, F. T. Marinetti, Pierre Garnier, and the Noigandres, among others. The essay closes with a mention of Valoch’s first collective exhibition opening the same month as the program at the Music Theater in Ústí nad Labem.
Artifact Vibration Standard Score: 8.1.
Age toning throughout on account of the high-acidity paper, additional toning to first and last page on account of the high-acidity covers, and faint scattered spotting at back cover. Very good.
