Catalog in the form of a tabloid newspaper, edited and designed by Guy Schraenen, issued on the occasion of the 1985 exhibition ‘poolse “avant-garde,”’ held in Antwerp. The exhibition, also curated by Schraenen, showcased books, artists’ books, catalogs, newspapers, photography, posters, documents, and film and video works by over a hundred Polish artists, including Stanislaw Drózdz, Jaroslaw Kozlowski, Natalia LL, Andrzej Partum, Ewa Partum, Pawel Petasz, Maria Pininska, and Ewa Zarzycka, among several others. Includes a full list of participating artists and several notable Polish art galleries, including Galeria Arcus and Galeria Foksal, and a chronology documenting events between 1961 and 1985. Also includes an article by Józef Robakowski titled ‘pitch-in culture,’ an article by Jan Swidzinski titled ‘Contextual Art,’ and an “excerpt interview straight from recorder”—a conversation between Schraenen and Henryk Gajewski titled ‘About Avant-Garde.’ Illustrated throughout with photographs and a few artists’ publications, including ‘FABRYKA’ and ‘TANGO.’
