Stuttgart: Edition Hansjörg Mayer, 1968. First edition. Softcover large 8vo in wrappers printed in color. With French-fold pages printed in black and four chapter dividers printed in color. 194 pp. Text in Dutch, German, and English.

Catalog in the form of an artists’ book issued on the occasion of Hansjörg Mayer’s 1968 exhibition at Gemeentemuseum Den Haag. Organized into four chapters: the first with an essay on the history of art and concrete poetry and Mayer’s personal philosophy on both; the second with Edition Hansjörg Mayer publications; the third with individual contributions by his contemporaries, including Mathias Goeritz, Haroldo de Campos, Klaus Burkhardt, Emmett Williams, George Brecht, Robert Filliou, Franz Mon, Frieder Nake, Wolfgang Schmidt, Herman de Vries, Diter Rot [Dieter Roth], Reinhard Döhl, and Peter Schmidt, among others; and the fourth with Mayer’s own artwork dating back to 1961. A comprehensive and indispensable documentation of Mayer’s oeuvre and influence.

Artifact Vibration Score: 8.3.

Trace amounts of rubbing and age toning at covers, including wear along extremities, a short hairline split to covers at crown of spine, the common heavier age toning to text block on account of the paper quality, light curling to covers, and gentle vertical fold lines along the margins of the last two pages. Very good. Item 1309.
