Massin’s art direction of Boulle’s classic novel about POW’s being forced by their captors to build a bridge during World War II. The novel is in French, but has an opening quote by Joseph Conrad in English.
Massin, who trained under Pierre Faucheux, was taught that books should have an opening title sequence like in movies. Therefore, most of the books Massin designed while at the publisher Le Club du Meilleur Livre embody this philosophy. A timeless concept in book design to this day.
Very good with sunning to spine and light foxing to top and fore edge of text block. Item #175
