Düsseldorf: Verlag Kalender, Hansjoachim Dietrich, . Edition of 500. 12mo in stiff laminated wrappers bound with a glued black cloth spine. Pages printed in color and black and white on card stock. Unpaginated. Text in German and English.
An elegant survey documenting electronic art of the late 1960’s bringing together artists from the fields of conceptual art and Fluxus featuring sculptures, installations, objects, drawings, and performance pieces by Paik, Vostell, Kagel, Raetz, Dietrich, Nauman, Sonnier, Serra, Merz, and Jenney. Some of the pieces featured include Paik’s and Charlotte Moorman’s ‘TV-bra for living sculpture’ and ‘Pussy TV’, Vostell’s ‘Akustischer Papierblock’, Nauman’s ‘6 days week – 6 sound problems’ which was shown at Leo Castelli Gallery, and a chapter specifically devoted to neon art titled ‘Neon Objekte’ with contributions by Nauman, Sonnier, Serra, Merz, and Jenney.
Much like other publications by Kalender, the book is designed in a way that combines the contributions creating a new narrative which feels more like an artists’ book than a survey.
Trace amounts of rubbing to covers and age toning throughout, else near fine. Item #233
