frauenfeld: verlag herausgeber eugen gomringer press, 1961. Softcover 8vo in saddle stapled orange covers printed in red and black. 32 pp. Text in German.

Issue no. 4 of Gomringer’s scarce ‘konkrete poesie = poesia concreta’ series, featuring early renditions of Rühm’s concrete poems titled ‘constellations’. This was an ongoing body of work for Rühm, some of which was later published by Verlag Christian Grützmacher in ‘edition et no.1’ in 1966, and subsequently translated into English by Jerome Rothenburg and published by Something Else Press in ‘The Book of Hours and Constellations’ in 1968.

The last five pages feature German trade ads from various galleries, industrial designers, and printers.

In all, eleven issues all focusing on concrete poetry were published by Eugen Gomringer Press between 1960 – 1964. Other contributors included Carlo Belloli, Claus Bremer, Augusto and Haroldo de Campos, and Diter Rot (Dieter Roth) among others.

Fading along spine including rubbing and trace amounts of soiling to covers. With bumps and wear to all four corners including a hard diagonal fold line at bottom right corner affecting all of the pages, and heavy age toning throughout on account of the paper. Thus a good only example of this scarce and fragile publication. Item #291
