Madrid: grupo n.o. / galeria de arte eurocasa, 1970. Five postcards 10.5 x 15 cm (4.13 x 5.9") in size, four of which are printed in color and black and white on recto and verso on white glossy card stock, and one of which is printed in black on purple matte card stock. Housed inside a 12 x 17.4 cm (4.73 x 6.85") envelope printed in red on recto and on enclosure. Text in Spanish.

Four artists’ postcards featuring concrete and visual poetry by some of the more prominent Spanish avant-garde artists and poets, including Fernando Millán, José Antonio Cáceres, Miguel Lorenzo, and Francisco Zabala. With the fifth purple postcard providing additional background about the group and their efforts, including a poem in the form of a mathematical formula for ‘n.o.’, which translates to:

experimentation + imagination + solitude x life – mythical artist x life = n.o.

Issued as ‘situacion cinco’ and published by Grupo n.o., which was founded in May 1968 by Fernando Millán, Enrique Uribe, Juan Carlos Aberasturi, Jokín Díez, and Jesús García Sánchez. Together they signed a manifesto defending the avant-garde arts in Spain. The group later added other artists, including José Antonio Cáceres, Miguel Lorenzo, Francisco J. Zabala, and Amado Ramón Millán.

A rare and delightful publication from one of the more overlooked countries with regard to concrete and visual poetry.

Trace amounts of age toning and rubbing to cards, else fine. Envelope very good or better with handling creases and bumps to corners on account of it being somewhat larger than the postcards. Item #484
