Kontexts 9 & 10

Amsterdam: Kontexts, 1977. Edition of 500. Softcover 4to in printed wraps offset printed in color and black and white, containing a pasted down brown envelope with ten thin strips of white paper offset printed in black and white on one side only. Unpaginated.

The last double issue of this artists’ publication edited my Michael Gibbs featuring an assembling of experimental, visual, and concrete poetry by over twenty artists including Dick Higgins, bpNichol, Bill Bissett, Ulises Carrión, and Endre Tót. The title page states the edition is limited to 500 copies. However, the inside back cover features a red rubber stamp with a handwritten number in ink which states ‘this is a limited edition of one million copies, of which this is no. 5621.’ A wonderfully sardonic comment on the banality of edition numbering.

Age toning throughout and the usual offset rubbing to back cover on account of the porous paper, else fine. Item #493
