To which is added a sheet of sandpaper slightly smaller than the book, a blue dishcloth bound into the text block, a loose folded paper sculpture printed in black ink on recto and verso, and a receipt from the artist type-written on recto side only. Sandpaper sheet and receipt initialed and signed respectively by the artist. Unpaginated. Text in Dutch and English. Very good with rubbing and toning to covers, including wear along extremities, and light creasing to top right tip of front cover.

An early artists’ book by Dutch artist Hans Clavin featuring a large collection of concrete and visual poetry. Published with several embellishments, including an initialed sheet of sandpaper titled ‘poetry quality’ laid in, and a blue dishcloth bound into the text block with the words ‘make ready’ handwritten in red marker. Also laid in is a twice-folded concrete poetry paper sculpture and a type-written receipt signed by the artist. One of Clavin’s earliest artists’ books, preceding ‘L’Angerie. Visuële Poëzie.’ published in 1973. Complete with an introduction by Belgian concrete poet Paul de Vree. Rare. Clavin’s work has appeared in numerous international publications on concrete and visual poetry, including De Tafelronde, Edgardo Antonio Vigo’s Diagonal Cero, Geiger, Ezio Gribaudo: Il peso del concreto, and Bolletino Tool among others.
