Issue no. 21 of the Rot series, edited by Max Bense and Elisabeth Walther, largely devoted to concrete poetry and the exploration of language and letterforms. This issue featuring a large compendium of concrete and visual poetry with contributions by Ian Hamilton Finlay, Vagn Steen, Emmett Williams, Peter Greenham, Ladislaw Novák, Josef Hirsal, Bohumila Grögerová, John J. Sharkey, Dom Sylvester Houédard, Yüksel Pazarkaya, Eugen Gomringer, Gerhard Rühm, Ernst Jandl, Åke Hodell, Leif Nylén, José Lino Grünewald, Franz Mon, Timm Ulrichs, Mathias Goeritz, Carlo Belloli, Augusto de Campos, Haroldo de Campos, Décio Pignatari, Reinhard Döhl, Edgard Braga, Pedro Xisto, Jørgen Nash, Diter Rot, Edwin Morgan, and Pierre Garnier among others. This example inscribed and signed by Max Bense, one of the two editors alongside Elisabeth Walther.

Each issue has the same German quote by Ernst Bloch on the back cover which translates into ‘There are also red secrets in the world, actually, only red.’

Very good with light wear along cover margins, including rubbing and darkening to back cover, and trace amounts of age toning throughout. Item #656
