LIBELLUS: A MONTHLY MAIL-ART PUBLICATION NO. 1

Antwerp: International Cultureel Centrum (ICC), 1980. Softcover. First edition. Single A3 sheet folded three times printed in black on light gray paper rubber stamped in various places in red, blue, green, and purple. 4 pp. To which is added a small blue sheet of thin paper rubber stamped one time in blue, and original mailing envelope.

First issue of Guy Schraenen’s publication Libellus, of which there were twelve published between 1980–1981 leading up to the Antwerp International Mail-Art Festival. This being the inaugural invitation calling for artists to participate, resulting in one of the larger mail art exhibitions of the 1980s. The festival ended up getting a large number of participants from artists around the world, including Guy Bleus, Paulo Bruscky, Ulises Carrión, Robert Filliou, György Galántai, Michael Gibbs, J. H. Kocman, Miroljub Todorovic, Endre Tot, Clemente Padín, Bern Porter, and Ben Vautier among several others.

Very good with a few handling creases and three hard fold lines. Small sheet also very good with a few handling creases and diagonal fold lines on account of being placed at a diagonal. Envelope very good showing wear from being mailed. Item #718
