New York, Frankfurt am Main, Villefranche-sur-Mer: Something Else Press, 1966. Edition of 500 of which this is no. 388. Wooden box with a silkscreened spine and a black and white portrait of the artists pasted down inside the bottom containing one 8vo softcover book bound in pink Day-Glo wrappers offset printed in black and white (94 pp.), fifteen folded 42 x 55 cm posters printed on glossy stock in black and white on one side only, one 20 x 14 cm print on cardboard signed and numbered by the artist, one packet of Bromo seltzer attached to the middle of a 21 x 14 cm mirrored substrate, and a clear Plexiglass lid. Lacking is the Matzo cracker.

An artists’ multiple of various items relating to Vostell’s process of Décollage. The self-portrait of Vostell resting his hand on this head alongside the seltzer seems like an attempt to convey the challenge of the process itself. A handsome production from this Fluxus artist published by the inimitable Dick Higgins at Something Else Press.

A small nick missing the bottom left corner of the mirrored substrate, trace amounts of rubbing to posters and book, a nick along the right side of the pasted down portrait, and some age toning to print. Else fine. Item #77
