TLALOC BROADSHEETS nos. 1–3

The first three ‘TLALOC BROADSHEETS’ issued by Cavan McCarthy beginning in January 1965. Highlights of note on the first Broadsheet include a poem titled SYMPOSIUM by Lionel Kearns, a concrete poem by Cavan McCarthy titled SEMI(ER)OTIC POEM, notes on George Bowering and Michael Shayer, who both contribute with poems on verso, with further elaboration on Shayer’s poem first appearing in a slightly different version “…in our favourite mazazine [sic], Poor. Old. Tired. Horse.,” POETMEAT 7, with three poems on verso by George Bowering, Michael Shayer, and Jim Burns. Highlights of note on the second Broadsheet include how it was issued to accompany TLALOC no. 4, a concrete poetry exhibition held at St. Catherine’s College in Oxford organized by Charles Cameron with additional information available “via cc & dsh” (Cavan McCarthy and Dom Sylvester Houédard), notes on TLALOC no. 4 contributors, including Ernst Jandl and his two books ‘rot 16: lange gedichte’ edited and published by Max Bense and Elizabeth Walther, and ‘konkrete poesie = poesia concreta 8: klare gerührt’ edited and published by Eugen Gomringer Press, the magazine Les Lettres edited by Pierre Garnier, ‘konkrete poesie = poesia concreta 9: starryveldt’ by Edwin Morgan edited and published by Eugen Gomringer Press, ‘Sound Poems’ by Bob Cobbing issued as Writers Forum no. 7, with upcoming reviews for Wild Hawthorn Press Poems/Prints, My Own Mag, a Poetmeat anthology, and a closing note from dsh. Highlights of note on the third Broadsheet include “North American News” regarding Andrew Crozier, notes on the publications Kulchur, Trobar, Imago, Aion, Ed Dorn’s ‘Hands Up,’ Ed Sanders’ ‘Peace Eye Poems,’ Robert Duncan’s ‘Roots and Branches,’ John Wieners’ ‘Ace of Pentacles,’ announcement of John Furnival’s Openings cards, including the collaboration between Augusto de Campos and Jeffrey Steele, Bob Cobbings book of sound poems issued by Writers Forum, including the magazine ‘And’ serving as an introduction to the work of Bob Cobbing and John Rowan, the Flemish publication Labris, with upcoming reviews for My Own Mag 11, Link, Embryo, and Scope.

All three sheets very good examples previously folded for mailing, but stored flat. With age toning, light foxing, additional fold lines along right margin of no. 3, a stain along top of to no. 2, and faint rust staple indents. Item #935
